Summer term ii

We are learning about lots of different topics:

  • English this half term includes a mixture of texts and inspirations. We will learn about many different aspects of fiction and non-fiction. This includes explanation writing and narrative.

  • Our topic this half term is called 'Recent Revolutions' and is all about the Industrial Revolution and the development of the railways in Britain.

  • Science this half term is all about magnets and magnetism. There is a link to our topic of railways if you think about Brio!

  • This half term in art/DT we are learning about L.S. Lowry and industrial art.

  • We are delighted to be holding our Key Stage 2 performance this year for the first time since summer 2019. Our learning in music this half term will be to do with our play and learning to sing the songs. It is also the Virtual Big Sing on 21st June so we will be learning the songs for that too.

  • In RE, we are asking the questions 'What do we mean by truth?' and 'Is seeing believing?'. For this, we will consider both Christian and Sikh views.

  • We are learning French this year - Bonjour! Across the year we are gaining a solid grounding in the basics, with Year 3 learning the language for the first time. Year 4 will refresh the vocabulary learnt last year whilst learning the next steps also.

  • In Computing, Key Stage 2 will explore different programming platforms: Lightbot (http://lightbot.com/flash.html), Scratch (http://scratch.mit.edu/) and Kodu (http://www.kodugamelab.com/). Over the year we also extend our learning about Microsoft Office, computer safety and any other coding that we discover along the way! We have also learnt how to navigate Google Classroom and now have a good amount of experience with this!

Please check Google Classroom for suggested homework tasks.
