Class 2 Home Learning


Suggested activities for w/c 30/3/20

This is a work in progress - please check back in the coming days.
We have no expectations for submitting work - below is an option available to you to use if you would like.

If you choose to send work in to the Class 2 teaching team, please photograph/scan and email it to them at class2@barnhambroomprimaryschool.co.uk . This email address will be checked periodically during the usual school day hours from the first day of closure, circumstances permitting.  As this is a new way of working, you will not get an immediate response.

We hope your first week of home learning went well, only 3 days this week! There should be enough work here to keep the children busy over Easter too - if you want!

Phase 4 and 5. The children will be able to tell you which ones they love to use in school.


Please be kind to yourself, this is a very difficult time the last thing you want is a battle on your hands getting children to do their work. Try and keep to a routine as to when you do the school work during the week, this might help the children adjust to this new way of working. We would suggest starting with one or two tasks a day but try and do reading everyday.

Ideas for use at any time

Learning Activities Year 1

Ideas to support your Year 1 child:

  • Find objects around your home and use your phonics to label them.
  • Read a book everyday and write a sentence about what happened in the story, remembering to include capital letters and full stops.
  • Collect 10 pairs of socks, use them to practise counting in 2s
  • Get a pile of your favourite toys or Lego, group them into tens and ones and count how many you have
  • Get some seeds and plant them, record how high your plant grows each day

Learning activities Year 2

Ideas to support your Year 2 child:

  • Read everyday
  • Write book reviews for the books you finish
  • Keep a diary
  • Practise 2, 5 and 10 times tables
  • Complete calculations using all four operations (+, -, x and ÷)
  • Measure objects around your home and record the lengths
  • Go on a 3D shape hunt, write the names of all the shapes you find, then make a table and record the number of faces, edges and vertices for each object.
  • Collect some coins from your money box, list the coins you have and find the total amount. Try to make the same amount using different coins.
