Happy Days

Welcome to Happy Days Under Fives
Happy Days Under Fives welcomes all children from two to five years of age. We operate from a Mobile classroom situated in the grounds of Barnham Broom Primary School.

We offer flexible sessional care for 15 children per session to suit the needs of each family. We also have a lunch club with the opportunity of a hot lunch cooked by the school.

The mobile has a main room which is colourful and offers a large section for free play with children having access to toys of their choice. There is a cosy book corner, offering lots of opportunities for story time, and children are encouraged to look through books at their leisure.

We do lots of messy play and like to give the children the chance to explore different textures e.g. play dough, gloop, water, sand, painting, bark chip and soil, so a spare set of clothes is always required!
The open plan kitchen allows children great cooking opportunities in a safe environment, which we link into our current topic. We made pasta for the Chinese New Year and the children had great fun mixing the flour and egg together.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and our main Ethos is "Learning through Play". Your child will be allocated a Key person who will be responsible for supporting the whole family with the transition into Happy Days, then into school when they leave. They will spend time with your child, getting to know their interests and plan challenging but achievable activities to help your child progress and reach their next level of development. A record of your child's progress will be kept in the form of a Learning Story. This contains photos of your child engaging in play with written observations by your child's key person.
Parental involvement is encouraged i.e. communicating goals your child has achieved outside of Happy Days or holidays taken. This in turn helps the child's social skills develop and the key person will use this information to communicate with your child. Parents are also welcome to share any ideas they may have on activities we do during the sessions and are welcome to attend sessions by prior arrangement with the Supervisor.

We have an enclosed outdoor area which provides lots of opportunities for physical development, fun and explorative play. We can also use the school's big playing field or playground and take the children for a walk to the local park at times.
We have close links with the school and work with them during the summer term to ensure that children, in their pre-school year, have a smooth transition to the school.
